Just because you haven't figured out a proper use for LV doesn't mean other people haven't. Yeah, Julie, that's just like the person in the Mustang saying that the disco ball is amazing because if you look closely you can see 100 little reflections, when the fact of the matter is that the rear view mirror would work 100 times better. I felt pretty stupid when I later looked at the manual. I sat there for a good 10 minutes and never found it. Set the camera up on a tripod to get a shot and the wife and I and could not find the timer switch. When I first got my D700 I went on a long day hike. Its a great way to shoot still life and interiors. if you use a tripod often, live view is not a novelty, its fantastically useful.Īdd to that - when you tether the D700 to Nikon Camera Control, Live View comes up on the PC screen! Zoom in to focus, set up, fire etc. I have focus priority set, I didn't try with shutter release priority.Įrmmm. The second is half way to focus, once you get focus press the rest way down. Pablo, the 2nd one is only half way, right? or is that because I have shutter release priority set? Pablo Alborta edited this topic ages ago. Third: Keep pressing the shutter the rest of the way down Second: press halfway to focus (the mirror will clapp and you cannot see the image) It sucks on my d700 tried it a few times and more then half of them nothing was captured.Ĭlicked it all the way and then i see what i want to capture, press the shutter and nothing other then clappering of mirror and shutter but no picture?įirst: press all the way down to see what you want to capture It's like buying Mustang GT that comes with a crappy tires and a disco riously, who gives a crap about the disco ball, but the people that buys the car just to have something rious drivers know the importance of good tires. It's silly they omit such a crucial feature in a semi pro camera, and add a novelty like live view. The liveview DOES suck, but I use it strictly to help me see when I have the camera at an angle that prevents me from using the eyepiece. I was chatting with a photog who shoots the D3, and he was "aghast" that the D700 didn't have it, had me look into his camera to see what it was like. you and your never ending crusade on lack of 5:4 crop mode. Live view sucks! They should have added a 5:4 crop mode insted.Ĭ Photos - Events / People / Places I think it's a little primitive the way it should be done, specially if you own a real liveview like a Canon G10 or else. I can sleep soundly.and everybody else- please go about your business and don't laugh at the simpleton!ĭon't worry I had the same problem with my D700 the first time I try to use LiveView. that is very strange behaviour.Īnyway, thank you lg.gomez. I think i expected it to turn on without a full pressing of the shutter release for some reason.and always stopped short of pressing the full way. and with that my embarrassment is complete. Any advice would be appreciated!Ģ.Press the shutter-release button "all the way down" (not half way!)įor improved focus, pause briefly with the shutter-release button pressed halfway before pressing it the rest of the way down. ![]() It feels like I am missing something right in front of me. Everything else seems to be just om what I've used of it (haven't tested it yet.just a little bit really) load of OK, OK then try and.nothing.Īm I missing something. In menu select handheld and single shutter release. Switch it to live view and press the shutter halfway.nothing. very common sense the manual helped with the rest. I understand and can use practically all the features.no problem.
